Today I went online to the Medifast site and signed up for their VIP plan.  I know I will be on this for at least 4 months, and by joining VIP I will receive an extra free 2 weeks supply of food, and also the book I was planning on buying for $19.99.  As of the third shipment, and thereafter I will be receiving a 5% discount on all orders.  Too good to pass up!  The first month's package of meals was $289.95.

If you have never been obese, you probably stare at fat people and think to yourself--"how did they ever let themselves get soooo fat. You also think it is disgusting.  Sometimes (as in my case) hair loss is also a problem too.  Years ago I thought that way.  I had no compassion at all because I had always been able to eat anything and stayed about 110 lbs. Yipes! there is 2-1/2 of me now haha.

Just know this, being obese is not something we choose. We know how bad we look.  It is difficult, embarrassing, stressful and a lot of work!  Sometimes you lose your hair, you look FAT, you fart a lot and wiping your own butt and/or showering can be ridiculously difficult. Putting on socks is a chore, you must wear elastic waist  jeans/slacks and slip on shoes, and now and then you get so tired that you nearly fall asleep and nod off while sitting at your computer as I just did. LOL  It's time for a nap!

How I am feeling:  Extremely tired.  I have been eating the sweets we've had in the house.  If you have ever been on a diet, then you know how it is.  You cannot stand to throw out all your stash, so you eat it to get rid of it---GUILTY HERE.

My Medifast food program/meals for month one has been shipped.  I will begin the program the day after it arrives so I will have time to read all of the directions.  Wish me luck!

My Medifast food arrived late this afternoon.  I have spent all evening reading the Book that came with it.  The food looks pretty good.  There are Shakes, bars, oatmeal, soups, scrambled eggs, etc.  Tomorrow will be the big day--my first day on the food plan.  I admit I am a little nervous but it is something I have to do. With my heart valves regurgitating the way they are, I am also getting some fibrillation which scares me a little.

In the book, they want you to write down 10 reasons you want to loose weight so that you can read them when/or if, you get into a slump. It is actually a good reminder.  Below are my 10 reasons:

 1. To help heal my heart and get rid of fat so it does not have to work so hard.

 2. To rid my body of my asthma.

 3. To rid my body of my diabetes.

 4. To have more energy.

 5. To be healthier for Barry (my hubby).  His wife died at a very young age and I don't want him to go through that again, and I too want to be    healthier.

 6. To know my future grandkids.

 7. To fit into and BUY smaller sized clothes :o)

 8. To feel better in general, and get off of some of my medications.  I take 11 pills and use 3 inhalers.

 9. To be able to walk across a room or bend over to pick something up without getting short of breath.

10. To be able to wipe easier. LOL

Tonight I had my LAST Snickers bar (just a few minutes ago).

Well, it is 9:30 pm and I made it through day 1. Whew!  I just pray tomorrow is easier.  They say the first 2 or 3 days are the hardest because your body is adjusting to the food and you are going through sugar, and fat withdrawal.  Boy I'll say--I've been quite full of gas today. You can also get a headache (which is withdrawal) or feel a little light headed.  I did both but mildly.

My breakfast was the Maple Oatmeal.  I had to thin it a little with water to get it down, but I DID it.

My lunch was the Chicken Noodle Soup.  I also had to thin that with water a little.  These two meals are not great, and if I had my druthers I would not eat them, but eat them I MUST--doctors orders.

For a snack I had the Dutch Chocolate Shake---much better and more palatable.

Then came dinner--boy did I look forward to that.  I had a 6 oz. piece of chicken breast with a cup of broccoli and a cup of spring salad.  The salad was cooked with garlic, pepper. It was on top of sliced onions and balsamic vinegar was poured over it and cooked for 45 min.  It was really good.

Well, I can have one more meal---I have chosen a chocolate mint bar.  Hope it is ok.   Oh!  I went to the Dr. today, and she has now lost 69 lbs on Medifast in the past 6 months.  I will take it one day at a time, everyone says it gets easier each day.  I even have a "coach" at the Medifast web site who is very encouraging.  See you tomorrow.

Today is day three on my food plan.  I did real good today.  Cocoa for breakfast, chocolate shake for mid-morning, Stew for lunch, and a bar for afternoon snack.  These are all Medifast meals.  I had fish for dinner baked with garlic, onion and tomato diced.  I ate my allowed "snack" of a no sugar popcicle this evening, and now I am eating my mint bar which is my late night snack.  I weighed in my nightgown this morning and was 240.9 lbs.  since it's been three days, my body should be in the fat burning stage. See you soon.
