Month Two

July 9, 2008

It has been over a week since my last entry.  We had company here for the greater part of a week.  Before they arrived, I had made a conscious decision to EAT while they were here, and I did just that, including ice cream, spaghetti, garlic bread, steak, strawberry shortcake, Hershey bars with almonds and baked potato with a lot of butter. Oh! and lets not forget the 2 bottles of Hard Lemonade I drank.  Not all at the same time though LOL.  It was soooooo good, and I was sooooo bad.  We even went out to our local Mexican restaurant for a high carb meal that reeeeeeally tasted good.   As expected, I gained weight--EIGHT pounds.  NOT GOOD, but my own doing!   I had also run almost completely out of Medifast when they arrived except for a couple flavors I just do not like.

My second shipment of Medifast arrived yesterday, so today is a new beginning.  I weighed in today at 233.5 pounds.  When I saw my doctor last week, she said I MUST drink/eat all five of the Medifast meals to get the full benefit from the food plan.  I am making a strong attempt to do that this month.

I'm kicking myself for not finishing off the delicious watermelon that is still in the fridge.  It is one of those small seedless varieties and I smell it each time I open the fridge.  I guess the trick is to NOT open the fridge haha!

I had a hot cocoa at 8 am.  It is now 10:30 am and time for another meal.  I think I will make a vanilla shake.  Would you believe I actually missed some of the shakes and bars while our company was here. I find that amazing.  They are my favorite, and when I re-order my food later this month I will go off of their VIP plan and order alacart.  This way I can order just bars and shakes if I want without having them make the decision on what to send.  I did get two free weeks meals by signing up for VIP though so it was well worth the money to get that savings..  It is also nice not to have the daily "what shall I make for dinner" decision.  For me, it's always fish, shrimp, chicken, pork or lean beef.  Sometimes for the beef I have a lean top sirloin burger (pre-made from CostCo.) and top it with Worcestershire sauce.  Mmmmmm.  A salad always goes with dinner.  No carrots in the salad though.   Those new salad spritzer's are really great.  You get some flavor without the calories and fat.  They are made by Wish Bone.  I bought the Basalmic, Ranch and Italian and switch off nightly.

Well, my hubby, Barry wants me to ride to Cost Co with him.  I need to buy more lettuce too.  The challenge will be getting him to not stop for lunch.  I will take a "bar" with me just incase I get hungry or he wants lunch.  I miss my McDonald's fish sandwiches.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for reading!!! See you soon.

July 18, 2008

I have not made an entry for quite a while.  That is because my computer died...I have a brand new one now.  My hubby bought all the components and put it together for me.  I am soooo blessed!

After my last entry, we made another trip to Cost Co.  I was so hungry even after my meals that my stomach was really growling.  It led me straight to McDonald's LOL  BOY WAS THAT GOOD!  I got my usual Fish Sandwich (scraped off the sauce) and the fries were so fresh I ate them!  Bad me!  When I got home, knowing I blew the day's food, I ate TWO Hershey's with almonds bars and that night I had a big bowl of Caramel Pecan Ice Cream.  I promised myself I would get back with the program and if I got hungry like that again I would just combine two Medifast meals one after the other instead of waiting 2 hours.  That seems to be working for me, and I am getting all five meals most days now.  I eat soup and a shake or bar for lunch.

I am absolutely thrilled to tell you that this morning when I weighted myself, I found that I am at 222 pounds  YIPEE

That is an official 25 yes Twenty Five pounds in six weeks and two days....not bad for someone who has never in my life been able to lose more than a few pounds, only to regain it immediately.

Tonight for dinner we are having a Chicken Salad.  Can't wait.  It is one of my favorites.  I will add the recipe soon.

July 22, 2008

I haven't made an entry for a couple days now. I even weighed in at 221 lbs. but I am temporarily off the diet.  I've been so hungry it's ridiculous so I decided to take two days off then start again.  I've put back 2 pounds, and will probably add another 1 1/2 or 2 but today I am going to eat.  Tomorrow I've promised myself I would re-order some shakes and bars (food I LIKE) and begin once again.  It will take about 3 days before I can see a weight loss again.  I am not happy about that, but felt like I was starving my taste buds and senses LOL  Pizza and ice cream were screaming at me.

It is difficult to not want pie, like Marie Calendar's Razzleberry; potatoes, ice cream, etc. when Barry has it in the house, and so much of it.  It seems the more I try not to have it in the house, the more goodies he buys.

I can pass it up if I'm in a good state, but I'm only human.  When my tummy is growling and I see a "goodie"  I naturally want it.  I am tired too, but that is not because of the diet.  It's because I stay up way too late and have Buster and Tony who get me up every few hours at night.  I also get up to pee once a night.  This happened last night too.  Of course both the animals are napping all day.  When I am up, their world is secure and they sleep.

I just planted 8 yellow/orange flowers in my flower bed.  That stooping over is difficult on my breathing.  I should take a nap, but it is almost dinner time now.  I was going to plant Marigolds but found out that they die out in the harsh winter here.  Our best nursery does not even sell them.  It has to do with being in the high desert and harsh winters.  The ones I bought will grow again and also re-seed which is great!

Time to fix dinner.  Thanks for stopping bye

MONTH THREE

August 11, 2008

I am not fully awake at the moment.  Catching sleep an hour here and there keeps me tired.  This time it's Tony wanting to play or go out.  Grrrrrrr.  I'll try to catch

a nap when I sign off here.  Of course if I didn't stay up so late playing hidden picture games and listening to Josh Groban on the computer, it might help LOL

Barry has had the flu for the past 5 days.  I'm trying very hard NOT to catch it.

I tell ya, time is going by soooo darned fast it seems like I get up in the morning, blink and it's past midnight again and time for bed.

This morning I was privileged.  A family of quail were on our big porch.  I watched them from the kitchen window for about 1/2 hour.  The father was teaching the teen aged boy birds how to watch over the mom and new babies while they ate.  Soooo cute.  They were talking back and forth.  Buster watched from the patio door window, but his intentions were a bit different than mine.  He couched with his back feet apart and  in running position and his ears flat out like a propeller. Haha.

Tony is indoors now, next to me eating a pigs ear.  Those are gross but he loves them.  Barry is still sleeping at 9:30 am.  I'll wake him about 10:00. I hope he is better today.

I was doing good on my diet but got so bored with it.  I had lost 25 pounds though.  My doctor suggested I give the Sacred Heart Diet a week, then return to Medifast.  I did.  It's like the cabbage soup diet but MUCH better. Unfortunately, it isn't endorsed by the Sacred Heart Hospital.  Someone just took their name.  The soup was delicious and I ate FRUIT.  We bought a truck load of it. Cherries, grapes, oranges, apples, watermelon, blueberries, raspberries, etc.  Then Barry got sick so he couldn't eat any.  I ate some, but found myself cheating and eating the entire kitchen, gaining back 7 pounds last week.  Today there is a LOT of fruit left, but I am starting the Medifast again.  I am already wanting to cheat and have a cookie with my Medifast cocoa.  Lord I think I am totally hopeless.  I am going for the cookies.  Pray for me!  It is hard to lose weight when Barry has the ice cream, pie, chips, candy, etc. In the house.

My hair is still falling out, and I have no choice but to buy a wig now.  I will buy one to match the three hairs I have left.  Later I will buy a grey one.   I found one I liked (short and the style I wear) on the Paula Young wig site and will probably buy it on Wed. (payday).  I decided on a synthetic one for now because I can wear it in several styles without having to set it every day.  I'll wait on getting a human hair one until later.  I am not looking forward to it.  My scalp psoriasis is really doing a number on my hair.  It comes out with the follicle, so it won't grow back.  My head itches all the time which really tests my patience.  My psoriasis cream works well on the itching though.  My son, Chuck is losing his hair too.  I told him recently that I needed to get a wig.  His reply was "me too" LOL  He is only 31, and losing his hair.  Men can get away with it though.  With women, people stare!  Barry says he's tired of people staring at me.   To be honest I rarely notice it, nor do I really care much.&n
