BEGINNER LEVEL

This is a new Tutorial using only PSP.  There are no outside filters needed.

 

Needed for this tutorial: 

PSP

A graphic of your choice.


Open your graphic in PSP.

 Windows/Duplicate two times.  Close the original.

 Minimize one of the duplicated images for now.


Layers/Promote background layer.


Effects/Image Effects/Seamless Tiling

 


Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur 20


 Effects/Texture Effects/Fur

 


Effects/Seamless Tiling using the same settings as before.


With your Eyedropper tool , in your Materials box, select this picture your image

 

 

 


Make a New Image.  File/New.  Make this new image 1024 X the height of your graphic.

 Flood fill  with your new pattern image.


 Reactivate your graphic.

 Effects/Image Effects/Seamless Tiling


Selections/Select All.

Edit/Copy


Activate your filled background image and Edit/Paste as a new layer. 

With your mover tool , position your graphic to the far left of your background image.


**optional.  At this point, you can click on the background layer and reduce the opacity to about 50%

or whatever you think looks best.  

Do not worry that the checked background shows through your faded image.  It will disappear with the next step.

 


Layers/Merge/Merge all flatten.

 Layers/Promote background to layer.


With your selection tool ,  make a long narrow selection of about 10 to 20 pixels at the edge

where your graphic image and background image meet.

While still selected, Layers/New Raster Layer.


Flood fill  this area with color or gradient.


While your area is still selected, add a drop-shadow. 

Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow.


 Selections/Select none.


Layers/Merge/Merge flatten.

Layers/Promote background layer.


Selections/Select all.

Selections/Modify/Contract 2 pixels.


Image/Crop to Selection.


*Add your watermark if desired, and save your new image to assemble in Letter Creator.
