Needed for this Tutorial
PSP
Mask-da20
(click on the image below to go to the masks page and save this mask to your hard drive)
Open a new transparent image 200 x 200 in PSP.
Also open the mask then minimize it.
Select a gradient and a solid color. I prefer using a solid color from the gradient.
Flood fill
your transparent image with your gradient
Effects/Textured Effects/Mosaic Glass

Effects/Plugin Effects/Simple/Quick Tile

Effects/Plugin Effects/Mehdi/Sorting Tiles as shown below

Layers/New Mask Layer/From Image
Pick out the da-20 mask

click OK
Layers/Delete
When the box opens and asks if you want to merge with the box below, click "yes"
Your image will now have the mask on it. Where you see white below, it should be clear.

Layers/New Raster Layer
Flood fill
with your solid color
Layers/Arrange/send to bottom

Layers/Merge/Merge all flatten
Layers/Promote background layer
Effects/Mehdi/Sorting tiles


Your background is now ready to use.
