NEEDED for this Tutorial:
PSP8
Tube of your choice
Simple Filters/Diamonds and Quick Tile
Xero/Art Grain    You can find the filters Here: http://www.fleursauvage.be/utilitaire/filtres/filtres.htm

Open your tube in PSP
Resize if necessary to no more than 300 wide.


With your Eyedropper tool , pick a light color  from your tube.


Window/Duplicate.    Close the original  Shrink it to your clipboard.


Select a gradient that compliments your tube or make one from two colors in your tube.


Make a New Image, 200 X 200 pixels.

 Flood fill  with your lighter color.
 

Add New Raster Layer.
 On this new layer, Make a selection with your selections tool

 down the center of your image.  Select at 95/105 pixels.


Flood Fill  with your gradient.

*Note:  Make sure the lightest color is towards the inside as opposed

to the outside of your gradient.

This is optional, but it makes a little nicer effect.

 Set the angel at 145, with no repeats.

 

 While selected, Edit/Copy 
Selections/Select none.

Add a new Raster Layer
Paste as a New Selection, at the left side of your image,

place between the 15 and 20 Pixel markers.


Select/Select none


Layers/Duplicate
Image/Mirror

 

This is a crucial step: 

On the "eye" in your Layers Pallet, close the solid background image.


Merge/Merge Visible


Uncheck the closed eye. 

Your background layer should be showing again with the stripes on top.


Effects/Plugins/Simple/Diamonds

 

Layers/Duplicate Layer
Image/Mirror

 

Layers/Merge/Merge all flatten.
Layers/Promote Background to Layer
At this point, with your background completed, you can resize to make a larger or smaller result..


With your Eyedropper tool , in your Materials Box, select your new pattern.

 

Shrink your new background image.


Activate your tube,  Window/Duplicate and shrink the other image.


Layers/Add a new Raster Layer
 Flood fill this layer with your new Lattice patterned background..


Layers/arrange/send to bottom


Activate the tube layer and apply your drop shadow if desired.

 

Layers/Merge/Merge all flatten.
Layers/Promote background to layer.

Image Add borders

Symmetric unchecked, Top=0, Bottom=0, Right=12, Left=12

 

 With your Magic Wand  tool select your new borders and flood fill with your
gradient.


Selections/select none

Layers/Promote background to layer
Layers/Merge/Merge all flatten.  Shrink this image.

Make a New Image, 1024 X Height of your tube.

Flood Fill your light color.

Effects/Xero/Art Grain using the default settings of 127/30/127.

Repeat, Effects/Xero/Art Grain using default settings.

Activate your lattice side border image.

 Edit/Copy

Edit/Paste as a new Selection and move to the far left side

of your main background image.


Selections/Select none.

Layers/Merge/Merge all flatten
Selections/Select none.

Selections/Modify/Contract 2


Image/Crop to selection

 

*Note, if your Lattice image does not line up in Letter Creator, you may want to go back and add a small top and bottom border.

 I have had some lattice images that line up perfectly in Letter Creator and others that just won't.

Add your watermark and assemble.
