PLAID BACKGROUND TUTORIAL

You will need the following for this tutorial:
 
PSP8
 
The following Filters:
 
Simple Filters/Diamonds
Simple Filters/4-Way Average
 
Horizonaus Mixed Bag/Stripes are In: Here

Instructions

 

 Select a tube or graphic and duplicate it twice. 

Shrink one image.  Close the original image .


If you choose a tube, on the active image, select a light color from the tube

with your eyedropper tool .


Add a New Raster Layer then Flood Fill  this new layer with the color you just selected.


Click on Layers/Arrange/Send to Bottom.


Layers/Merge/Merge All Flatten.

* Resize your image if needed to be no larger than 350 pixels in either height or width.

On this image, Effects/Plugins/Simple/Diamonds


Effects/Plugins/Simple/4-Way Average


Fade the Opacity to 50% as shown below.


Open a new blank image 1024 X the Height of your tube/graphic image.


In the Materials/Color Box, Flood Fill  with your background image.


 

Your image should look like this:

Effects/Plugins/Horizonaus Mixed Bag/Stripes Are In, with the settings at 100 and 100.


Effects/Plugins/Simple/Diamonds


Effects/Plugins/Simple/4-Way Average


Selections/Select All

Selections/Modify/Contract 2

Image/Crop to Selection


Make your other tube image active.

Edit/Copy
Edit/Paste as a New Selection in to your new 1024 X (H) background. 

Place your tube/graphic on the left side of your background.


 

While still selected, Effects/3-D Effects/Drop Shadow with the settings shown below:

 

Selections/Select None
Layers/Merge/Merge All Flatten
Add Watermark if desired and then assemble in Letter Creator
