Needed for this Tutorial

PSP

One Graphic - One with a nice design in the center

Mask of your choice, or you can use the one below.

Just right click and save it in  your masks file on your computer

Open your Graphic in PSP

Resize it if necessary so that the width is no more than 350 pixels.

Layers/Promote background layer

With your eyedropper tool select two colors from your graphic image.

Open your mask, then minimize it.

Duplicate your graphic (window/duplicate) then close your original.

Layers/New mask layer/From image --  select your mask

Layers/delete

Click "Yes" when the box opens that asks if you want to merge with the layer below.

With your Selection tool use either a rectangle (my favorite) or an ellipse or circle like I used in this example.

Make a selection in the middle area of your graphic. You will see marching ants all around it.

While the ants are still there,  Effects/Mehdi/sorting tiles as shown below.

While still selected with marching ants, Effects/3D Effects/Drop shadow.

Effects/3D Effects/Drop shadow again, but change the Vertical and Horizontal number to minus 4  (-4).

This should give you a shadow all the way around your middle selection.

Selections/Select none

This is only one way to do the following step.

You can also add a new layer and fill that, then move to the bottom and merge, but I prefer the easy way

Image/Canvas size and set as follows:  1024 X the height of your image.

It will look like the following image, but the white will be clear (your psp checks)

Layers/New raster layer

Flood fill this new layer with one of your colors.

Click on your brush tool .  Select one of the "marble" brushes that comes with PSP.  I chose Marble 1.

Make marble brush marks all over this layer using the other color you picked from your image.

I chose a light yellow for the layer flood fill, and a white for my marble brush marks.

Effects/Plugin effects/ Mehdi/Sorting tiles with the same settings as above

OPTIONAL:  **if you wish the pattern to stand out more in the background, use FM Tile tools/blend emboss.

Layers/Arrange/move to bottom

Re-activate your top layer.

Effects/3D effects/Drop Shadow.

Change the Vertical setting to "0" but leave the rest as you used before.

Layers/Merge/merge all flatten.

Effects/Plugin effects/FM Tile tools/Seamless

**Vertical checked

Layers/Merge/merge all flatten.

Add your watermark if you use one.

Save as a jpg. image and assemble in Letter Creator.
